Changes in our supplementary insurances in 2022

The terms and conditions for ONVZ's supplementary health-care plans are set to change as of 1 January 2022. We will explain what these changes may mean for you.

What will change for you?

  • Medical transportation - requesting permission

As of 1 January 2022, ONVZ will assess applications for seated medical transportation. After we have given our permission, Transvision will arrange the taxi transport for you. They can be reached from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 0900 333 33 30. After a telephone intake with Transvision, you can also book rides via their online reservation tool.

What does it mean for you?
If you have Superfit, OntzorgPlus or Zorgplan and need taxi transport in 2022, you need to request our prior permission. From 1 January 2022, ONVZ will assess all applications for seated medical transportation. You can read more on how that works on our website. If you have our permission, you can contact Transvision. They will arrange your taxi transport and send the claim directly to us.

If you were already using Transvision's services in 2021 and still have authorisation for 2022, you can continue to use Transvision's taxi transport. Their opening hours have extended and you can book your rides online as well. For more information, please contact Transvision.

If your permission expires, you must apply for an extension through ONVZ. You can no longer apply for an extension through Transvision.

  • Premium arrears

From 1 January 2022, we will apply the same rules as other health-care insurers if you do not pay the premium for your basic health-care plan on time. Not paying your premium for the supplementary health-care plan (on time) has consequences as well. If you do not pay the premium on time and do not respond to payment reminders, we can terminate the supplementary insurance with effect from the day you failed to pay your premium.

What does it mean for you?
If you do not pay the premium for your supplementary health-care plan and fail to respond to payment reminders, we can terminate your supplementary plan with retroactive effect from the moment you stopped paying the premium. We advise you to read the new rules surrounding premium payment carefully. You can find these rules at www.onvz.nl/algemeneregels

  • Scheduled care in Belgium and Germany

From 1 January 2022, you need our prior permissionfor a scheduled admission or outpatient stay in a hospital or private clinic in Belgium or Germany. This does not apply to emergency admissions.

We do not reimburse administration costs incurred because you are going abroad for treatment. For example, any costs the foreign hospital charges because they have to process your file from the Netherlands.

What does this mean for you?
If you have Wereldfit or Superfit and go to a hospital or private clinic in Belgium or Germany for a scheduled admission or outpatient stay, you must request prior permission.

An outpatient stay means your treatment will last more than two hours and you will be going home the same day. If you are admitted, you will stay in hospital for at least one night.

Wereldfit and Superfit cover scheduled care in Belgium and Germany. The hospital may sometimes incur additional administration costs. To assess your file from the Netherlands, for example. They may need to fill out an application form to obtain our permission. Or communicate the results of the treatment to Dutch doctors. The aforementioned supplementary health-care plans do not reimburse costs the hospital may charge for this.

  • Aid for third-party claims for injury

Expansion of the area in which we provide this service. In addition to the countries of the EU, we will also offer our assistance for accidents in the countries of the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

What does it mean for you?
If you have one of our supplementary health-care plans, you can count on our aid for third-party claims for injury. Our Tandfit plans, Wereldfit and Zorgplan are the exception. From 1 January 2022, we will not just provide this service in EU countries, but in the countries of the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom as well.

  • Preventive health-related courses

Two minor changes concerning the providers of preventive health-related courses:

Vereniging Samen Bevallen has imposed a certification requirement on its members for giving their pregnancy course. As such, we will include this requirement in our terms and conditions.

For the basic CPR or AED course, ONVZ will also reimburse the Red Cross-certified course if an organisation other than the Red Cross provides the course.

What does it mean for you?

If you have Optifit, Topfit or Superfit and want to follow a ‘Samen Bevallen’ pregnancy course, the teacher must be certified by the Vereniging Samen Bevallen. This means you are assured of a high-quality course and teacher.

If you would like to follow a basic CPR or AED course certified by the Red Cross, you can now also go to other organisations than just the Red Cross itself.
