In 2018, insured persons who need medication still have to bear part of the costs themselves. This personal contribution towards the costs of medicines is not subject to a maximum amount.
What will change?
From 2019, if you use medicines that are subject to a personal contribution, the personal contribution will be capped at € 250 per calendar year. This is because personal contributions over € 250 will be covered by the basic health-care plan from 1 January 2019. But do keep in mind that such reimbursement will be subject to any excess you have outstanding.
