In 2018, patients with COPD who are undergoing remedial therapy still have to pay for the first 20 sessions out of their own pocket. Only certain supplementary health-care plans cover these initial sessions.
What will change?
In 2019, the basic health-care plan will cover remedial therapy for severe COPD from the very first session onwards. Do bear in mind, however, that reimbursement for remedial therapy for COPD is subject to a maximum number of sessions. In the first year of treatment, the maximum number of sessions covered is 70 for the most severe form of COPD. After that, the number of sessions covered will be lower and will also depend on the severity of the COPD. Please note: given that this therapy will be covered by the basic health-care plan from 2019, it will also become subject to the excess.
