Working in the Netherlands

You have to apply for a basic health-care plan.

If you will be working in the Netherlands while living abroad, you have to apply for health insurance in the Netherlands with a Dutch health insurer.

How do you apply for a basic health-care plan with ONVZ?

Would you like to apply for Dutch health insurance with ONVZ? Please send us the following information.

Once we have received all required documents, we will determine the commencement date of your basic health-care plan. We may contact you to request additional documents.

Do you live in an EU /EEA or treaty country?

Your health insurance in the Netherlands may not cover all health care in your country of residence, or only in part. For example, if health care is more expensive in your country of residence than in the Netherlands. An E106/S1 form:

  • allows you to apply for a treaty policy with a health insurance company in your country of residence
  • indicates that you are insured with us for health care and that you are paying us premium for this insurance
  • means ONVZ will reimburse the medical costs in your country of residence according to the statutory regulations and the social security regulation of the country concerned. Usually you do not pay additional premium in your country of residence

If you would like to request a E106/S1 form, please contact our Service Centre by calling 030 639 62 22.

If any of your family members live or work in the Netherlands, please let us know in your application. We will determine whether they are obliged to apply for Dutch health insurance.
