Changes international 2020

Changes international 2020

  • As of 1 January 2020, supplementary Internationaal health-care plans will cease to reimburse compulsory personal contributions if you live in Belgium, France or Germany and have taken out health insurance there in accordance with the social security system requirements in that country.

  • Change from 1 January 2020
If you spend time abroad while you are pregnant, we will consider any health care you receive in relation to your pregnancy or childbirth to be planned health care. This means that you will not be able to rely on supplementary coverage for emergency care. The Wereldfit plan does provide coverage for health care needed to deal with complications that could not have been anticipated before you travelled abroad.

Wereldfit will not cover costs if there are certain risk factors with respect to your health related to your pregnancy or the area you are travelling to.

    What this means for you
If you plan to go abroad while pregnant, you should bear in mind that childbirth-related health care can be more expensive there than in the Netherlands. For a normal birth without complications, we will not cover these extra costs. The Wereldfit plan will not provide any coverage at all if a heightened risk of complications existed when you travelled abroad, such as when a health risk had already been identified before you left or when travelling to an area where the Zika virus is known to be active.

Be sure to contact one of our ZorgConsulent advisers before travelling abroad to avoid unpleasant surprises

  • On 1 January 2020 we will convert the Zorgplan Internationaal insurance. From now on we offer people who live in the Netherlands, but are not eligible for the statutory basic insurance two international health insurance policies, Health Basic and Health Premium. All additional insurance plans, including dental insurance, will expire on January 1, 2020. In addition, planned or non-urgent care abroad will no longer be reimbursed.

People who live abroad can no longer apply for Zorgplan Internationaal. Existing Zorgplan Internationaal insurances outside the Netherlands will continue unaltered.
With this change we hope to make our health insurance plans more comprehensible and relevant for you. At the same time, we have also rewritten our terms and conditions to make them easier to understand.

Do you have Zorgplan Internationaal and do you live in the Netherlands? In that case, your insurance will be converted to Health Premium
On 1 January 2020 your health insurance will be automatically converted to Health Premium, assuring you of extensive coverage. This coverage includes movement-related care, oral care and basic mental health care. Policyholders can of course switch to Health Basic, if they wish to. They can do this until February 1st 2020. The affected policyholders have been informed about this.

Do you have Zorgplan Internationaal and do you live abroad? Your existing Zorgplan Internationaal insurance will continue unaltered. Check this document to see the changes for Zorgplan Internationaal in 2020 (in Dutch).

  • Health Basic is an insurance that covers most necessary care. Health Premium is a more comprehensive health-care plan that includes, in addition to the above-mentioned reimbursements, paramedical care, orthodontics up to the age of 18 and a more extensive cover for medicines. Of course you are still free to decide which doctor to consult and which hospital to visit.

Back to your health insurance in 2020.
