Choosing a healthcare provider

At ONVZ, you have optimal freedom in choosing your doctor or hospital, because we only have maximum reimbursement limits for district nursing (home care) and mental health care provided by health-care providers that do not have a contract with ONVZ. However, choosing your own care provider is sometimes easier said than done. Which is why it is nice to be able to talk to someone who knows all about health care and will listen to your concerns. A professional who helps you make your choice.

Consultation with doctor or specialist

When talking to a doctor or medical specialist, there is usually little time to explain what is going on. The ZorgConsulent will be happy to help you prepare for your consultation, so you will not have to worry about forgetting anything.

Options after a diagnosis

Have you received a diagnosis that will take you into an extensive treatment programme? The ZorgConsulent will discuss the options with you. They will listen to your concerns, go through the treatment programme with you and provide you with tools and tips to talk to your doctor.

Second opinion

Do you have questions about the diagnosis made by your GP, dentist, medical specialist or other health-care provider? Or about the treatment they are proposing? You can ask another doctor for their opinion: a second opinion. That doctor will only give his or her opinion and will not take over the treatment.

A second opinion is intended to properly inform you before you make decisions about your treatment. Together with the ZorgConsulent, you will be able to find out what your options are and where you can go for a second opinion. The ZorgConsulent can also help you prepare for the conversation you will have with your current health-care provider before or after the second opinion.

Taking back control

Anything can happen during your care process. You may think things are going too fast or too slow. As a result, you may feel you cannot make your own choices. Or maybe you do not ‘click’ with your care provider. In situations like these, you can turn to the ZorgConsulent. Together with you, the ZorgConsulent will get to the heart of the problem and give you tools to regain control of your care process.

After hospitalisation

Before or during your hospital admission, you can contact the ZorgConsulent to discuss possibilities and matters that need to be arranged in your situation. The ZorgConsulent can provide you with information and advice, and gives you tools to talk to health-care providers and stay in control of your care process.
